Synopsis

In the city of Khansaar, Raja Mannar plans to make his son, Vardharaja Mannar his successor, but Raja Mannar’s ministers and advisors plan a coup d’état by hiring armies from Russia and Serbia to attack and kill Vardha and Raja. Vardha, along with his brother and a few trusted men, manage to escape from Khansaar. Vardha goes to his childhood best friend, Deva, who learns about his predicament and sets out to make him the undisputed successor of Khansaar.

Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language action film directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. The film stars Prabhas in the titular role, along with an ensemble supporting cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and Ramachandra Raju. The film follows Deva, who helps his childhood friend Vardha become the undisputed successor of Khansar after Vardha’s father Raja Mannar plans to make his son Vardharaja Mannar as his successor.
The film was officially announced in December 2020 under the title Salaar, but in July 2023, the official title was announced as Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. Principal photography commenced in January 2021 in Telangana, followed by a schedule in Hyderabad, followed by another schedule near the latter location, and a sporadic schedule in Italy. The film has music composed by Ravi Basrur, cinematography handled by Bhuvan Gowda, and editing by Ujwal Kulkarni.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire was released worldwide on 22 December 2023 in standard and IMAX formats to positive reviews from critics. The film’s initial story was pitched from Neel’s debut film Ugramm and is the maiden part of a two-part film. The sequel, Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam, is in development.
